PGME - General Surgery
The General Surgery Residency Program at South City Hospital, Karachi offers comprehensive postgraduate training in both elective and emergency surgical care. Residents gain hands-on experience across a wide range of procedures including gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, breast, thyroid, colorectal, hernia, trauma, and advanced laparoscopic surgeries. This is a paid program where training is supported by state-of-the-art operating theatres, surgical ICUs, and multidisciplinary diagnostic services, ensuring exposure to diverse and complex cases.
The program emphasizes operative skill development, evidence-based practice, and academic growth through journal clubs, research, and morbidity & mortality reviews. With high patient volumes and a supportive learning environment, the program prepares residents to become skilled, ethical, and confident surgeons, capable of excelling in both local and international healthcare settings.
Eligibility Criteria:
- For Four Year Residency General Surgery Program:
- MBBS with valid PMDC License
- FCPS Part I in Surgery and Allied
- For Two Year Senior Residency General Surgery Program:
- FCPS Part I in Surgery Allied
- 2-Year CPSP RTMC Registration
- Candidates with IMM Certificate will be given preference

- 1 Computerized National Identity Card Photocopy
- Complete updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) with references
- Photocopy of Domicile & PRC
- Photocopies of Matric & Intermediate Certificates
- Photocopy of Medical (Graduation) Degree
- Photocopies of all MBBS Professional Marks Sheets (Consolidated OR Annual/Supplementary)
- Photocopy of Valid PMDC
- Photocopies of House Job Certificates
- Photocopy of FCPS Part I (Congratulations Letter for FCPS program)
- Photocopy of RTMC (If Applicable)
- Photocopies of Letter of Recommendations / Testimonials Copies of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Lift Support (ACLS) certificates.
Foreign Nationals are required to get Study Visa & Clearance from Interior Ministry before joining program.
